RTV-2 Silicone Products
Tin and platinum cure silicone rubber for mold making and prototyping. Select a product for its full technical datasheet.
Shore A hardness
Shore A measures how far a standardized point presses into the cured rubber. Lower numbers flex and stretch; higher numbers resist pressure. Slide the marker to compare values to everyday objects.

Feels like a pencil eraser
Soft, but holds its shape.
Tear strength
Tear strength (pounds per inch, ASTM D624) is how well the cured rubber resists a small nick growing into a rip. Higher values survive repeated demolding, undercuts, and thin cross-sections. Lower values suit simple molds and gentler handling.
Mixed viscosity
Viscosity is how readily the mixed rubber flows, measured in centipoise (cps). Low viscosity pours thin and captures fine detail. High viscosity holds its position on vertical surfaces.
Log scale, 1 to 100,000 cps
Cure type
Both cure at room temperature into flexible molds. The catalyst chemistry differs, and that drives the choice.
| Tin cure | Platinum cure | |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | Lower | Higher |
| Cure inhibition | Cures on almost any surface | Sensitive to sulfur clays and some 3D-printed parts |
| Shrinkage | Slight shrinkage while curing | Near zero |
| Mold life | Good for shorter production runs | Longer library life |
